About the Role | The Development Coordinator leads all fundraising and donor engagement efforts for a midsize nonprofit, City Youth Matrix (CYM), operating on a July–June fiscal year. As the sole fundraising staff member, this role owns annual giving, donor stewardship, major gift cultivation, and fundraising reporting.
This position’s responsibility is to drive sustainable revenue growth, strengthen donor relationships, and ensure strong fiscal year performance.
This role reports directly to the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Board of Directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead and execute the organization’s annual fundraising strategy across the full July–June fiscal year, including all campaigns and events, ensuring timely and compelling donor messaging
- Cultivate and solicit a portfolio of major donors (10–15), conducting personalized outreach, meetings, and gift requests throughout the year
- Oversee donor stewardship and retention efforts, including acknowledgments, impact updates, and key touchpoints
- Partner with and support the Board of Directors in fundraising activities, providing guidance, materials, and coordination during key campaign periods
- Create and manage all fundraising communications, including email appeals, newsletters, and digital giving content
- Maintain donor data and track performance metrics, preparing regular reports and leading fiscal year-end analysis and planning
- Collaborate and communicate regularly with Operations & Programming to ensure alignment and vision-casting throughout the year.
Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of nonprofit fundraising or development experience
- Proven success in annual giving and donor relationship management, with the ability to manage fundraising independently
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to manage fundraising independently
- Experience engaging board members in fundraising
- Familiarity with donor databases/CRM (Customer Relationship Management) platforms

Schedule & Location
- Hybrid role (approx. 10 in-office hours/week, plus events)

*Occasional evening or weekend donor meetings and events required.
